The worm gearbox (https://www.oyostepper.com/category-94-b...arbox.html) used in my winch has recently shown a noticeable decrease in output torque, accompanied by a series of "creaking" sounds.
Upon disassembly, the worm gear teeth were pitted and uneven, with large amounts of copper shavings peeling off. Even more strangely, the steel worm shaft surface appears to be plated with a bright copper color, clearly indicating adhesive wear, where the bronze material has been directly torn and transferred to the worm shaft. I've already used extreme pressure gear oil, but it hasn't held up.
Is it possible that the oil film simply cannot be established under heavy loads and low speeds, and I must switch to a grease containing solid lubricants? If this continues, the entire machine will be rendered unusable. I'm extremely worried.
